Episode “Blood furnace, Keli’dan the breaker”

Mark: Hey welcome back to On Warcraft on On Networks. I am Mark Majcher.
Arwyn: I am Arwyn Lietz.
Mark: And this is the last boss of the Blood Furnace, it is Keli’dan the Breaker, and we’re going to break it down for you.
Arwyn: Yep, surprise, surprise he is a warlock. I’ll tell you how to kill him, we will tell you for the first time ever, and how in a game that Blizzard created you can kill a warlock.
Mark: Yes.
Arwyn: Finally someone can overcome them. All righty, so like a lot of bosses and this instance the room right before them is really, really tough and this guy is no exception. So he has got a roomful of Felgaurds that come in groups of two’s or threes, and they have got their buddies with them and everything. Most people might tell you to enslave a Felgaurd and have him tank for you in this room.
Mark: That is what I would do.
Arwyn: That is a bad idea.
Mark: That is a bad idea?
Arwyn: That is a very bad idea; it is like spring break Felgaurds gone wild. It is really bad, so I would not recommend that. Have a person with an actual brain, so you might have to get a new party. You might have to get a new guild I do not now, but find a tank with a brain though who can actually pull the Felgaurds off because they do switch agro and all that stuff. If you can get past those the next room is going to be cake, all it is, is our guy Keli’dan standing in a circle of five warlocks.
They are standing on top of a mesh net, under which you can see Mactherodon. There are actually points in the Blood Furnace where you can look over, almost like an observation deck and you can look down straight into the dragon.
Mark: I saw Mactherodon.
Arwyn: Yeah I saw him, what?
Mark: What?
Arwyn: Blood furnace, even at level 56 you can see Mactherodon which is pretty fun. So that is where these guys are standing on top of. You want to kill the five warlocks, so like a warlock in any blizzard game these guys are really powerful. You don’t want one person to be taking all of the hits, so it is important again to use crowd control, use your Mage that you strictly brought in here just for that. Your warlock, that is loving this instance anyways use him for order.
Mark: Pull him out of his little state of bliss to do some work.
Arwyn: Yeah make him actually work for this instance a little bit, so crowd control a couple of those guys. If you for some reason do not have those, let’s not hate, there are other people out there too, bring them all to the doorway so just line of sight pull them out of the boss room and back to where those Felgaurds were.
Mark: Get a nice little narrow trap going on there.
Arwyn: Exactly so they will clump up at the doorway and you can melee them or do whatever you need to do to mitigate their damage.
Mark: Close the door on them, psych.
Arwyn: They don’t like it when you close their hands in the door, it is a little sad to watch, they have to cast like this.
Mark: Stumpy the warlock.
Arwyn: But like the other two boss fights this is going to be the last guy standing, once he is dead he will trigger the boss, keep him crowd controlled long enough to get your health and manna back, there is also shadow damage a lot of shadow damage in this final fight. So if you at all possibly can get rid of those buffs before you hit the boss, much better.
Mark: That would be ideal.
Arwyn: You do not want to go into a total boss fight with a debuff on you, so get rid of that if you can or wait it out with the crowd control, otherwise suicide is your middle name. That is fine.
Mark: That is kind of a cool middle name though.
Arwyn: It would be kind of cool, the S is for suicide. See you need ahead into the room, you know what do it at your leisure, while you have got the last guy sheeped or something, because on the floor in this room not only can you see the Mactherodon below but above him little me on lines of goodness. You run across them and you get a caster buff that…
Mark: A disco buff.
Arwyn: Disco buffs that increase you’re casting time, you’re casting out rate, and also the same buff will increase your attack speed. So melee you benefit from this, casters you benefit from this.
Mark: Everyone benefits.
Arwyn: Except there are not enough to go around.
Mark: Almost everyone benefits.
Arwyn: So if you have got one of those crazy, kamikaze people who run in front of everyone they are going to pick up the buffs and you cannot get them back, they do not reset. Don’t group with the people who do that, or kick them out I do not care. We can replace those guys.
Mark: Yet totally there are plenty of players were they came from.
Arwyn: So pick up those buffs, that is nice. Once you actually get to fighting Keli’dan, he is a pretty easy boss, there is no tank requirement in terms of placing him, because he stays put. He just casts so he is like a lazy warlock, he does not break dance.
Mark: He does not break dance?
Arwyn: He is called a breaker but it is a total lie.
Mark: That is totally misleading
Arwyn: I know.
Mark: What the hell?
Arwyn: I know, go Blizzard. So you’re not going to get a fun little show, you do get the disco buffs.
Mark: So there you go.
Arwyn: Maybe he is rebelling against disco.
Mark: Maybe he is, hmm.
Arwyn: Was it break dancing like the anti disco?
Mark: Yeah let’s say it was.
Arwyn: Let’s say it was, alright so once you come in here and start killing the guy he does shadow damage like everyone else here and he also does fire damage. The shadow is going to be in a cone, so actually your tank should face him away from everyone; it is not too bad of a distance though it is only about 30 yards. You can out range that, the most important thing though it is he is going to tell you come closer and burn.
Mark: Don’t listen to him.
Arwyn: You should not fall for that, you should not take candy out of vans either. Come here little girl I have some candy for you.
Mark: Not even if it is really good candy.
Arwyn: This is not good candy.
Mark: Yeah, no.
Arwyn: This is the type of candy that burns going down and continues.
Mark: It burns kind of like the little hot cinnamon things; it is like a really burning.
Arwyn: It is sucktastic, so you’re going to want to run away. Do not even back up, when he says come closer and burn everyone run as far away as you can possibly get. If you all get out of range from the fire then he will shadow bolt you, so he still does bad things, but that you can survive. You can heal through and no problem, but other one you’re healers going to hate you, the rest of your party is going to hate you.
Mark: You are going to hate you.
Arwyn: Dogs and cats living together, it is going to be bad, so just stay out of that. He is pretty much a pushover just keep in mind that he does do shadow damage, so try to get that dispelled or get an aura that mitigates it. He does a shadow bolt cone, so you can face him away from the party.
Mark: Easy to take care of.
Arwyn: Easy to take care of, they are stupid this way. And then he also tells you to come closer right before he tries to AOE you, run away.
Mark: Yeah, note to boss; next time don’t say anything before you do that.
Arwyn: The bosses are, they are always really dumb, I will tell you my evil plan right before.
Mark: Ha, ha, ha, oh you beat me.
Arwyn: Oh how did you win again? So that is the final boss, and as an added bonus and proof that Blizzard does love us, they open a back door for you.
Mark: Oh, nice.
Arwyn: So you do not have to run right back to the stealth rogues. Run right out the back, make a new plan Stan. Head on out and my recommendation is once you’re through Blood Furnace and you have got the quest items and exploration and things like that done.
Mark: Never go back.
Arwyn: Never go back.
Mark: Never go back.
Arwyn: And lest you are a warlock, and you love doing it, which you will.
Mark: You love hanging out with your peeps.
Arwyn: Just chilling with your own kind, we are not segregationist or anything like that, I’m just saying…
Mark: No, but sometimes you need a safe place.
Arwyn: The warlocks feel comfortable there, they are loved there, head out though and go back to Ramparts, always.
Mark: Over and over.
Arwyn: Cool so you’re out the back door and we’re all done with the Blood Furnace for good, forever. So what is a good place to go next?
Mark: Well the easiest place to go after this, the most logical is to head over to Zangarmarsh and swim way under water to a gigantic pipe, after which you will find four instances. Two of them are very level appropriate, 62 or 63 thereabouts so head on over to Coil Fang, in Zangarmarsh.
Arwyn: Alright and we’ll be covering those later on in another episode, so you’ll have to watch then some other time.
