Transcript: Week 10 Under the Radar

The 5 Minute Drill Episode “Week 10 under the radar” Cecil Lammey: Sunday was an amazing day for the stars of the NFL, but there are guys not named, Peterson, Brady, or Adia, that deserve some attention. Sigmund Bloom: That is why this week we will look at running backs, a penalty and a draft pick that are flying under the radar of the national media. Cecil Lammey: I know that you know that I know that you know the drill. Announcer: Its time for fantasy football's Five Minute Drill, quarterbacked by Cecil Lammey and Sigmund Bloom. Cecil Lammey: Lane Kivet announced that Justin Fargas is the starter until further notice. Now he is the top dog on a team that is committed to the run, so he has to be a consideration as a fantasy starter but he is nothing special. The main knock on him is that he is in an impatient runner; if the whole is there he is not averse to get through the line of scrimmage quickly. If the hole is not there he is not creative enough to make anything happen on his own, last Sunday the holes were big and he got the yards but do not confuse him with a real franchise back. Speaking of the Raiders Ron Dayne had a huge game against them on Sunday now the Raiders are 30th against the run and if you watch the tape it is because Stewart Swaggart is killing them. He is so far out of position that he is actually blocking his own defenders from making a play. Now Ron Dayne is good for making 40 to 60 yards against most any team but usually that is his ceiling. Herman Edwards has said that he does not want Priest Holmes to touch the ball more than 15 times. Now Holmes is the hot waiver wire pick up this week with Larry Johnson out, but we think the guy you should go get is Kolby Smith, the guy with a sweet home match up against the Broncos. The Chiefs are going to want to see what they have in this young rookie. He is from Louisville he is a power back that filled in nicely when Michael Bush went down with injury, but unlike most power backs this kid can catch. Sigmund Bloom: The Arizona offense bottomed out last week in Tampa Bay which should be your cue to get Edgrin James, Antoine Bouldin, or Kurt Warner every team they play are in the bottom half of NFL defenses from here on out of is underbelly of the NFL. The 31st rate bangles will make 11 and the 32nd -ranked Browns with whom in line and in week thirteen, which means playing a card, could be your best bet to get to the playoffs. Cecil Lammey: Adrian Peterson was amazing, but that line was parting the charter defense like the Red Sea. If Chester Taylor gets a chance behind that line he could turn himself into a every week fantasy starter just the chance that Peterson gets dinged up means you keep Chester if you got him or get him if you don’t. Before I hand the ball back to Sigmund I have to let you know about a special offer for viewers of the Five Minute Drill. Sigmund Bloom: Only the NFL can put in a delay of game penalty that delays the game more than what they are penalizing, it reached the height of absurdity this week for Nan Morrissey made a heady play taking what could have been a lateral out of bounds but they call them for the delay of game penalty anyway. When the Mother Teresa of the NFL, work done, gets called for a penalty because he does not gift wrap the ball and give it on a silver platter you know something's wrong. Cecil Lammey: Ryan Grant was running like his cheese head was on fire, and until he got a concussion against the Chiefs. Now Mike McCarthy says he will be fine but this week against the Vikings it is a very tough matchup. If you missed out on him on the waiver wire the first time around, wait until after the Minnesota game and you might get a second chance. The other Adrian Peterson was pretty good in college as well, he finished his career in division one AA as all-time leading rusher at Georgia Southern. Now we all know about Cedric Benson’s public outburst, and the rumor is that he could lose his job. Now this may or may not happen, but don't wait go out and get the other Adrian Peterson just in case. Shaun Alexander is fading fast he could not get it done against the Browns this last week and the Browns are ranked 27th against the run. Now Maurice Morris came in last year and had 263 yards in two games when Alexander was out with the injury and he showed that he is a pretty good receiver as well, so down the homestretch gambling on the dock might pay off. Sigmund Bloom: The Pats are nine and oh but even when they lose they win, they lost their first round pick in Camerongate, but they still have S.F.'s first round pick which is one more than the Colts have and that is probably going to be a top 10 pick. If they're making you sick just think about Glenn Dorsey, or Darren McFadden or James Laurinaitis in a Patriots uniform. Of course knowing the Patriots they will just trade down, get one of those guys, and get an extra pick for 2009. Cecil Lammey: So Bloom what do you…? So Bloom what do you… thanks for watching everybody this time that will do it for this week on the Five Minute Drill.
