Transcript: Week 5 Teams in Turmoil

The Five Minute Drill Episode “Week 5 teams in turmoil” Cecil Lammey: After four weeks in the NFL, there are teams in transition and teams in turmoil. Sigmund Bloom: Get out your tarot cards, tea leaves and astrological charts because this is a fortune telling edition of the five minute drill. Cecil Lammey: You know the drill. Male announcer: Its time for fantasy footballs five minute drill. Quarter backed by Cecil Lammey, and Sigmund Bloom. Cecil Lammey: Here is point to the shirt and now there is point to the knee, thanks to Dante Culpepper. He was scoring touchdown after touchdown against the Dolphins but when you dig deeper you see he didn’t have mastery of the offense. And that is why he ran so much. Speaking of the running game the Oakland running backs situation is getting ugly. Lamont Jordan’s injury was so bad he had trouble sitting down at the end of the game. Now Justin Fargus came in and looked good. But remember dating back to his college days at Michigan an USC he has always been a one dimensional back that relies mostly on straight line speed. Dominique Rhodes is the player here because after the bye week he is coming back and he is more proven and more versatile than Fargus. Sigmund Bloom: Lets get one thing straight Phillip Rivers does not suck. Neither interception on Sunday was his fault. Now Vincent Jacksons dropped touchdown pass was Jacksons fault. Jackson struggles plus Buster Davis injury means our favorite sleeper in San Diego; Malcolm Floyd is going to get his shot. So don’t let him sit on your waiver wire. Now you might have missed the chance to get LT at his lowest moment. But Rivers is in his lowest moment and it might extend until next week, because they have the Denver pass defense in week five. Cecil Lammey: Kevin Jones trusts his foot; he was making hard cuts on it all day. And he is working his way back to being the feature runner for the Lions. Now John Kitney is not just a product of the Mad Mark system. He has actually matured into an excellent NFL quarterback. His spirals are tight and he puts the ball in places where his receivers can make an easy catch. He may just lead them to the ten wins that he predicted. Sigmund Bloom: After last week even David Carr’s mother has probably dropped him in her fantasy league. Now he is the same guy we thought he was. He is bailing out; he is throwing the ball away with no pressure. And he is just broken quarterback. Now that does not mean that you should not trade Steve Smith, just not going to get the value you need for this guy. David Carr was still able to make Andre Johnson a decent fantasy wide receiver, while he was doing all the same stuff in Houston. So you probably need to hold on to Steve Smith because no one will give you what he is truly worth. Cecil Lammey: St. Louis Rams meet rock bottom, we told you last week that the wheels were falling off and they did. Things are so bad that there is value to be had now with the St. Louis players feel out your Steven Jackson and Tory Holt owners and see if you can make a deal, because even if Gus Feraud is starting this offense is going to score more than seven points regularly. Sigmund Bloom: Bobby Patrino might be puling off the best reclamation project in NFL history. After everybody had left Joey Harington for dead, he looks like a real quarterback. The quick thinking offense that Patrino has installed takes advantage of Harington’s biggest strength, which is his arm. And doesn’t play to his biggest weakness, which is anytime he has the all for more than three seconds. Now these young wide receivers make this passing offense potent but the real test this week is at Tennessee. If he pulls it off the maybe even I will be a believer. Cecil Lammey: Buffalos rookie played better than Buffalos veteran. Trent Edwards was in and showed good footwork in the pocket, was hitting his receivers in stride all day. Lee Evans certainly appreciated that because he came back to the box score. Marshon Lynch has become the focal point of this offense, but now they have got Dallas on Monday night. It could be a rough game but the season is far from over for the Bills. Sigmund Bloom: The game plan in Minnesota is simple, get the ball in the hands of one of the rookies. If it is not Adrian Peterson, then it is Sidney Rice. Now he made his big splash this week including a huge game. Including a touchdown pass where he practically levitated when he caught the ball. They have deep offense installed and with Tevarus Jacksons arm you can be sure there will be fireworks between Jackson and Rice. Now Peterson is in a committee, but we all know who the best back in Minnesota is. Throw out some trade offers while he is on a bye and you just might steal this Uber stud. Cecil Lammey: The light bulbs come on for Jason Campbell he is relying on his instincts more and throwing a really good deep pass. Now unfortunately the Santana Moss injury appears to be very serious. The redskins went out and signed Keenan Mcardell. Antoine Randle El is the player that will take on the feature role and his value can’t get any lower, especially because they play the Lions this week. Sigmund Bloom: Who am I to doubt Ken Whisenhunt? He used the controversial quarterback by committee to get his signature win against his old mates of Pittsburg. Now the problem here is that he is playing with fire. Matt Leinart is clearly fed up. He did play better when he came off the bench. But if he doesn’t get the starting job back he jus might break mentally. On the other hand edge James is not gong to break, he is their workhorse. If anybody in your league thinks he is old a washed up, throw out a trade offer and you just might steal him. Cecil Lammey: Quarterback by committee just doesn’t work. Sigmund Bloom: Yeah, but host by committee it’s the only way to go. Cecil Lammey: This is my show. Thanks for watching The Five Minute Drill.
